Man arrested for self-immolation bid in Rajkot

A man was arrested for attempting self immolation outside the police commissioners office on Saturday,accusing the police of falsely implicating him in criminal cases,police said.

Dharmesh Chavda was arrested outside Geetha Johris office near the race course.

Chavda rushed to the commissioners office on Saturday afternoon and doused himself with kerosene. But he was arrested before he could set himself ablaze,the police said.

They added that Chavdas brother was earlier arrested for vehicle theft. Chavda was also beaten up during a rally taken out to mark B RAmbedkars birth anniversary couple of days ago. The police said that he staged the drama to put the police officers in trouble. Chavda has been booked under relevant sections of law.
