The Vadodara city police on Thursday arrested a 52-year-old man for "verbally abusing" and allegedly assaulting a traffic police official who had instructed him to “pull his car over to the side” after his car allegedly collided with a two wheeler in the Manjalpur area of the city, while he was in an "inebriated" state. Manjalpur police arrested the accused, identified as Devendrasinh Harisinh Sindha, after he allegedly drove his Land Rover vehicle on the wrong side of a turn-around, resulting in the collision. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening. "The accused indulged in a verbal fight with the two-wheeler rider and when the constable on duty instructed him to pull over to the side, he parked his vehicle in the middle of the road and indulged in verbally abusing the traffic constable and also indecent behaviour, including voluntarily causing hurt to deter the police personnel from doing his duty," Assistant Commissioner of Police, F Division, Pranav Katariya said, adding that a video of the incident went viral on Thursday. Sindha has been booked under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Sections 121 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant to deter them from performing their duty), 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way that endangers human life or causes injury), 296 (obscene act or singing, reciting, or uttering obscene songs, ballads, or words in any public place), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), as well as relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act and the Prohibition Act.
