Police team from J&K with Kiran Patel to reach Ahmedabad today
An FIR was lodged by Jagdish Chavda, brother of former BJP minister Jawahar Chavda, last month at the detection of crime branch police station in Ahmedabad, naming Kiran Patel and his wife Malini for defrauding him of about Rs 15 crore, in the name of renovating his residential property in Shilaj area of Ahmedabad in 2022.

A police team of the Ahmedabad city crime branch has set out from Srinagar by road with alleged conman Kiran Patel to bring him to Ahmedabad where he faces a fresh case of fraud. The police is expected to reach Ahmedabad by Monday evening.
Chaitanya Mandlik, the deputy commissioner of police city crime branch told The Indian Express, “The police team has left for Ahmedabad from Srinagar on Sunday morning after completing the procedure. He is being brought via road and will reach in 36 hours.”
Patel’s judicial custody in Jammu & Kashmir, where he was under investigation for allegedly posing as a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official and thus enjoying perks, ended on March 31 and the Gujarat police had applied for a transfer warrant.

Patel and Malini were booked under IPC sections, 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 170 (personating a public servant) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
Malini is on a six-day remand of the DCB.
