Gujarat transfers over 100 IAS officials, promotes 10

Among those IAS officers who were promoted Friday include 2007-batch IAS officer Ms Ardra Agrawal who will continue to be on deputation to Government of India as Director of Census Operations.

In one of the largest bureaucratic reshuffle undertaken after the Bhupendra Patel government was re-elected to power in Gujarat in December 2022, the state government on Friday transferred over 100 IAS officials which includes district collectors of 18 districts. A total of 10 officials have been promoted as well.

Among the senior most bureaucrat reshuffled is 1988-batch IAS officer Mukesh Puri who has been appointed as the new Additional Chief Secretary in the home department. His immediate junior AK Rakesh, will replace Puri as the new Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Cooperation department.

Rakesh who was ACS, General Administration Department (Personnel) will be now be replaced by 1990-batch officer Kamal Dayani who has been moved from revenue department.

SJ Haider, Additional chief secretary in education department will head the all-important industries and Mines department, while Mukesh Kumar, Principal Secretary in Urban Development department will occupy the spot vacated by Haider.

Industries Commissioner Rahul Gupta has also been transferred and appointed Managing Director of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). The Municipal Commissioner of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, Sandip Sagale will replace Gupta as the industries Commissioner in Gandhinagar.

Milind Torwane has been appointed as the managing director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), replacing his senior Sanjeev Kumar who has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Forests and Environment department. Roopwant Singh, Commissioner of Geology and Mining has been transferred and appointed as full-time Managing Director of Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation.

District collector of Ahmedabad, Dhavalkumar Patel will replace Singh as new Commissioner of Geology and Mining at Gandhinagar.

Apart from district collectors of Kutch and Ahmedabad, Praveena DK, collector Gandhinagar is among those transfered. She will replace Dhaval Patel as district collector of Ahmedabad, while Hitesh Koya, the district collector of Sabarkantha, will be the new Gandhinagar district collector. The other district collectors who were reshuffled include district collectors of Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Tapi, Patan, Sabarkantha, Porbandar, Botad, Banaskantha, Aravalli, Dangs, Jamnagar, Panchmahals, Junagadh, Amreli and Rajkot.

Among the Municipal commissioners who have been shifted include Banchha Nidhi Pani, the Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) who has been appointed as Commissioner of Technical Education, Gandhinagar. Dilip Rana, the district collector of Kutch, will replace Pani in Vadodara. The Municipal Commissioner of Rajkot, Amit Arora has been transfered as new district collector of Kutch.

Some of the power discoms in the state also got new heads as part of the transfers undertaken.
For instance, Rajkot district collector Arun Mahesh Babu has been appointed as the Managing Director of Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd, Mehsana. Similarly MJ Dave has been appointed as MD, Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd, while Tejas Parmar has been appointed as MD of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd.

Remya Mohan, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dilip Rana, the new Municipal Commissioner of Vadodara, Sandip Sagale, New industries commissioner were among those promoted.
