Event Name: Guards at the Taj About the Event: The play "Guards at the Taj" was staged by actor Vrajesh Hirjee and director Danish Husain as part of the Aadyam theatre initiative`s third edition. The play (starring Vrajesh Hirjee and Joy Fernandes) was set in 1648 and draws inspiration from a legend surrounding the Taj Mahal`s construction. According to the legend, Emperor Shah Jahan ordered the hands of the artisans who built the Taj Mahal to be chopped off to prevent anything as beautiful from being built again. The play delves into themes such as the relationship between money, labour, and creation, while also encouraging the audience to question issues related to censorship and autocratic governance.
