The traffic police Tuesday detained a minor in connection with the February 28 hit-and-run case involving a luxury car which had hit a woman, critically injuring her in Ahmedabad, said officials.
According to details shared by Traffic ACP SJ Modi, the accident took place on Judges Bungalow road when the Mercedes hit the victim identified as Kashmira Thakkar. Based on a complaint filed by an acquaintance of the injured, Mayur Rashmikant Devashrayi, the police started a probe into the matter.
During the probe, the police came across the CCTV footage and found that the car involved in the hit-and-run was of Mercedes brand. Upon probing the ownership of the vehicle, police found that it was owned by Prahladnagar- resident Nandini Belsare. However, the car was not in her possession at the time of the accident.
ACP SJ Modi said that she had leased the car to a firm named “Urban Mobility Rental Private Limited” for 36 months under an agreement. Further, on February 24, the company had rented the luxury vehicle to Rajesh alias Madhav Ramji Bharwad of Vejalpur for seven days.
During this period, at about 7 pm on February 28, Rajesh Bharwad allegedly let his friend, the minor, drive the car. Meanwhile, the accused has been placed in detention, said the police.
