The BJP got most of the seats in all the three municipalities in Valsad district – Valsad, Pardi and Dharampur – even as some of its rebels tasted victory on a few seats. In the district, out of five Muslim candidates, three won from the BJP and two from the Congress. In Dharampur municipality, four BJP rebels won as independent candidates on four seats.
In Valsad Municipality, out of 44 seats, seven were declared won uncontested by BJP candidates. Overall, the BJP won 34 of the 37 seats. In Dharampur , for the first time, four Independent candidates – all BJP active members with some of them being sitting councilors who were denied tickets – won the polls from ward 1. The BJP won 20 seats.In Pardi Municipality, the party won 21 seats.
