Despite controversy over Gujarat Universitys (GU) decision to launch skill development courses in partnership with private educational groups, vice chancellor Adesh Pal said Thursday the university had decided to go ahead with the project from the current academic session.
While one of the parties,iNurture Education Solutions Private Limited, had already issued prospectus with a message from CM Narendra Modi, two other groups,Gyanjot Trust and Asia Charitable Trust(ACT),are getting the universitys approval to place advertisements in local newspapers.
ACT representative M P Chandran who met GU authorities Thursday said he would place advertisements in Gujarati and English newspapers for launching of the courses from the current academic session.
An official of iNurture said they were earlier running skill development courses at Ganpati University but shifted to GU after signing an MoU in May this year.
Pal said all three partners would run different courses. As part of the MoU,they would not launch the same courses either independently or in collaboration with any other institution in the state.
He clarified that GU would get 40% of the gross revenue earned from these courses unlike some state universities that had a 50% share in the profit.
Pal said none of the courses run by GU,including those in partnership with the private groups, required approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
On being asked about his meeting related to the programmes with State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma,Pal said,The minister was very impressed.
