Government expects revenue of Rs 100 crore during Navratri
The Gujarat government is expecting a revenue of Rs 100 crore during the nine-day-long Navratri festival,which will be celebrated across the state from September 19 to 27.
The Gujarat government is expecting a revenue of Rs 100 crore during the nine-day-long Navratri festival,which will be celebrated across the state from September 19 to 27.
The state is likely to generate revenue to the tune of Rs 100 crore through various sources during the festival,said Sanatan Pancholi,Resident Manager of Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL),told reporters. TCGL is conducting a road show here.
Pancholi said that around 3.5 crore people will participate in Garba,which is an integral part of Navratri festivities.
To invite and attract tourists to the longest dance festival in the world,TCGL has launched road-shows across the country. TCGL Chairman Kamalesh Patel,along with his team,is participating in these shows.
According to Pancholi,the sale of traditional dresses and the vibrant night life during Navratri contribute to the economy of the state.
Patel told mediapersons that tourism in Gujarat is all set to take a giant leap with investment memorandum of undertakings worth Rs 55,000 crore signed with different companies.
The state government has invested Rs 600 crore in tourism infrastructure,he added.
