THE Nadiad town police have registered a complaint against the incumbent president of the Kapadvanj Nagarpalika,Pragnesh Soni,for forging land documents and submitting the same to a nationalised bank to avail a loan of Rs 1.5 crore.
The police registered cases of forgery and cheating along with other offences under different Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Soni and other Nagarpalika office bearers.
According to the complaint,one Jaswant Kumar Patel,a resident of Shivam Society in Kapadvanj,had applied for permission for a construction on GIDC plot 32,33 and 34 between February 19,2007 and March 23,2007. At that time,Soni was a member of the Nagarpalika town planning committee.
The committee gave permission for construction to Patel,but Soni,with the help of some of his colleagues,replaced Patels name with his own,on the document.
He then used the forged documents to avail loan benefits from the Bank of Baroda,which granted him a loan of Rs 1.5 crore.
Kapdvanj Town Inspector J B Pandit said: We have registered cases under Sections 420,465,461,468,471 and 114 of the IPC.
