The complainant lodged a complaint with Surat ACB against Chauhan, following which the officials laid a trap and allegedly caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe (Representative image/Archive)The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials Saturday arrested the assistant superintendent of the Fishery Department for allegedly accepting Rs 15,000 bribe in Navsari. According to ACB sources, the complainant, who is a fisherman, had purchased a trawler boat engine for Rs 4.10 lakh. He came to know that the government gives a subsidy on buying a new boat engine, so he applied online for the same.
The complainant later approached the Fishery Department and submitted an application to transfer the boat owner’s name from his father to himself and also get the subsidy document cleared. He requested Assistant Superintendent Dipakkumar Chauhan to clear his case.
In one such meeting, Chauhan allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant to do his work, said sources.

“Chauhan was arrested for accepting Rs 15,000 bribe under the Prevention of Corruption Act,” said ACB Assistant Director R R Chaudhary.
