The police on Saturday filed a complaint against the organisers of a cultural programme involving Gujarati film actors,in the tribal heartland of Kwant in Vadodara, for violation of laws.
Prabhu Jalu Rathwa, the secretary of Kabir Krupa Mandal of Khantiyavat village in Kwant works with the State Reserve Police Force in Vadodara, while local residents Takhat Singh Rathwa and Ramdas Narsinh Rathwa are office bearers.
The police said the event on March 23 was organised without permission.
Sub-Inspector B A Chauhan said,on March 23,the mandal organised a cultural programme featuring Gujarati filmstars Vikram Thakore and Mamta Soni.
But before the main programme started,a fight broke out between the audience, followed by stone pelting, over the shortage of tickets. A complaint was lodged by the organisers in this connection, said Chauhan.
But during investigations,we found that the event was organised without proper permission and that the organisers had not collected Entertainment Tax,which is meant to be charged for organising the programmes, he added.
The police said the villagers including the sarpanch want the organisers to be brought to book.
