Feeling that strengthening of the booth level committees of the party is vital for winning the elections,the state Congress leaders on Tuesday asked the district and taluka party presidents to set up poll booth committees in their jurisdiction and appoint their in-charges latest by June 15 and submit details of it to the state party headquarters.
The state party leaders,who addressed a meeting of the district and taluka party presidents at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here,warned that the district and taluka party chiefs failing to meet the deadline would be removed from their posts.
Some of the leaders who attended the meeting were also asked to brief the booth in-charges about their responsibilities,like appointing at least 12 workers for each booth committee. These workers would have the voter listS of their respective areas and mobilise the voters in favour of the party and also assist the voters on the day of polling.
State party leaders,addressing the meeting,felt that one of the reasons for the poor performance of the party in previous elections was an inadequate party infrastructure at the booth level.
State party president Arjun Modhwadia,in his address,said that only 90 days were left for the poll process to begin and hence it was necessary for each and every party worker in all 182 assembly constituencies to undertake his/her assignments very seriously.
Minister of State for Railways,Bharatsinh Solanki said that booth management was very significant to win elections and booth level workers should try to establish personal contact with voters in their areas.
Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Shaktisinh Gohil said that all efforts were required to ensure victory of the party candidates in the next polls. He asked party workers to ensure the enrollment of maximum voters from their areas which could lead to the victory of the party candidates.
AICC General Secretary and partys state in-charge,Mohan Prakash said that BJP workers lacked enthusiasm owing to the latest infighting within various factions of the saffron party.
Former union minister and partys election campaign committee chairman Shankersinh Vaghela stressed the need for a united front of all the leaders and party workers in order to put up a tough fight against the BJP and defeat it.
Others who addressed the meeting included former Deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin,State Treasurer Balwantsinh Rajput and former state party president Siddharth Patel.
