The Congress was able to form the board in only one of the 68 municipalities — Salaya in Dwarka, where it got a majority — while the Samajwadi Party (SP) formed the board in two municipalities in the state in Porbandar. Salaya will also be the only municipality where the AAP will sit in Opposition having won 13 of the 28 seats, the remaining having gone to the Congress. Julekhaben Abbasbhai Bhaya was elected the president of the municipality, and Salemamadbhai Jusabbhai Bhagad was appointed the vice-president, Congress’s Devbhumi Dwarka District President Mohammad Yassin Gajjan said. While the BJP has formed boards in 65 of the 68 municipalities where elections were conducted last month, the municipalities of Kutiyana and Ranavav in Porbandar saw SP taking charge. In Kutiyana, while Shantiben Maldebhai Odedara became the president, the vice president's position was taken by Kana Sarman Jadeja, said SP state general secretary Ram Sevak Sahani. Gitaben Jitendrabhai Bhutiya of Samajwadi Party was elected the President of Ranavav Municipality and Ramaben Bharatbhai Piprotar was elected the Vice-President.
