The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday decided to hold a yuva rally in Gandhinagar on October 1 to focus on problems pertaining to education and unemployment faced by states youth and the failure of the state government to tackle it. This was one of the five resolutions passed by the partys executive committee meeting,chaired by state party chief Arjun Modhwadia. Leader of opposition in the Assembly Shankersinh Vaghela and senior leader Shanktisinh Gohil were among those who attended the meeting. This resolution was moved by party spokesperson Manish Doshi. The party also passed a resolution condemning terror attack in Nairobi in which some Gujaratis were reported to have been killed. It also condemned recent terror attacks in Yemen and Pakistan in which several Indians were killed. Other resolutions passed at the meeting pertained to deteriorating law and order situation in the state and delay in payment of crop insurance to farmers whose kharif crops failed in 2012. It also passed a resolution condemning failure of the administration in proper handling of the situation arising out of heavy downpour in Surat,Bharuch and other districts. It said that just 72 hours of heavy rains exposed the development claims of Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Taking a dig at the CM,it said that when people faced floods,Modi was touring outside the state to promote his political career. Modi downgraded India in his speech to NRIs Ahmedabad: Hitting out at Narendra Modi over his recent speech to NRIs through video conferencing,Haryana Industries Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said that Modi had made fun of the country by making baseless comments that India had not grown under the UPA regime. Surjewala said that Modi undermined the countrys development and tried to downgrade and berate Indias inherent socio-economic strength,resilience of the great Indian middle class,resolve of Indias poor and determination of the young to keep the economy on march to progress despite the period witnessing a global economic recession. Reacting to Modis claim of 8.4 per cent growth during the NDA rule,Surjewala said that he selectively picked up the 2003-04 figure when the average growth rate during UPA regime since 2004 till now has been 8.2 per cent against the NDAs 5.7 per cent.
