The raids were carried out at various locations in Surat, Amreli, Navsari, Mumbai and Buxar.

The CBI conducted raids at 12 locations in Gujarat, Mumbai and Bihar in relation to a paper leak case of the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) of Western Railway Recruitment Board.
The raids were carried out at various locations in Surat, Amreli, Navsari, Mumbai and Buxar. According to an FIR based on a complaint filed by Western Railway Mumbai Senior Deputy General Manager Naresh Lalwani on December 30, 2023, some of the students appearing for the examination got question papers with answers on WhatsApp, a day before the scheduled exams, for a premium amount. It has also been alleged that a few students were physically shown the question papers with the answers at a gathering organised at a private hotel in Surat for a premium. These students also had access to their results via a fake online portal.
Thirteen people, including a head constable with CRPF 51 Battalion at Chandigarh and a railway employee, have been named for criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal misconduct by the complainant.
According to sources, some students have confessed to have got the examination papers and answers and results by paying hefty amounts.
Upon further investigation, the officials identified Western Railway employees and private individuals and an examination conducting agency involved in the entire racket.
