Ahmedabad:While minor ports in Gujarat have clocked an average 12% percent growth in cargo volumes during 2011-12,the lone major port in the state,Kandla,grew by a mere 1% during the same period. The growth of cargo volumes clocked by the countrys largest port is even lower than its own 3% growth registered the previous year. In sharp contrast,Kandlas nearest neighbour and biggest rival,Adani Port and SEZ has registered a 24% growth in the last fiscal. The Gujarat Maritime Board controlled minor ports of Gujarat together handled 259 MMT of cargo in 2011-12,thus registering a 12.19% growth compared to 2010-11. 406 students get degrees at Nirma convocation Ahmedabad:A total of 406 students received their degrees at the 13th convocation of the Nirma University held here on Friday. State wrestling body chief elected to WFI Ahmedabad:Gujarat State Wrestling Association president Indravadan Nanavati has been elected as senior vice-president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). In an election held in New Delhi on April 5,Nanavati defeated R K Hooda of Haryana by 58 votes.
