President of Anant National University Ahmedabad, Ajay Piramal, inaugurated the university’s new faculty and graduate housing building on Monday.
The facility, designed by Rushabh Parekh Design Studio (RPDS), spans 26,475 sq m and features 172 apartments, including studio apartments and 1, 2, and 3 BHK homes, located opposite the university campus.
Ajay Piramal said “As the design university is for 21st century India, where designing is a part of every sector, we aim to take the capacity of students from existing 2,000 to 5,000 by 2030 with an all residential campus.”
During the visit, Piramal also interacted with the faculty and students. “India is a young country, and you are the future. You can make a difference with your design thinking and develop solutions that are unique to India and globally relevant. Anant offers that opportunity and scope for you to create impactful solutions,” he said while addressing the students.
“Anant National University is currently undergoing an infrastructural transformation, expanding over 1.5 lakh sq m to create a world-class learning environment. The academic centres, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will ensure that students have access to the latest innovations in design and technology. What makes this expansion unique is the involvement of some of the world’s most renowned architects, including BV Doshi, Rajeev Kathpalia, Bimal Patel, Rahul Mehrotra, Sasaki, Hafeez Contractor, Aniket Bhagwat and Vijay Arya,” the university authorities stated.
