In his first interaction with party leaders in UP,BJP general secretary Amit Shah on Wednesday projected Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as “Vikas Purush” and focused on the need to strengthen the party organisation in the state.

Addressing state office-bearers and organisation secretaries at party headquarters in Lucknow,Shah said the party has given a major responsibility to “Narendra bhai” by appointing him head of the Lok Sabha election campaign committee. “We have to assist him and work with him,” Shah added.

He said that Modi’s development model in Gujarat was being discussed and praised all over the world and that model should be highlighted in UP also.

As for the Lok Sabha elections,he said: “Do not be concerned about winning Lok Sabha seats but focus on winning the booth. Once we win all the booths,Lok Sabha seats would be won automatically.”

Shah asked every state leader to adopt at least one booth and work for strengthening the organisation and linking the public with the party. Every leader will have to hold meetings of his booth at least once a month. The party had adopted that model in Chhattisgarh.

He asked the office-bearers to tour out of their district for at least 20 days in a month. Shah said he himself will be in UP for at least 20 days every month and submit a report of his tour to the central leadership as well as the state headquarters.

According to sources,Shah told the state unit that the BJP will contest all 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Shah strictly said that every candidate will have to contest according to the organisational set-up that the party will create in his constituency in view of the elections.

He asked the state unit to follow the Gujarat model of collecting financial contributions for the party. Financial assistance would be collected by selling coupons or through cheques to maintain transparency and the party will collect a minimum of Rs 1,000 from every booth.

“Contribution would be a must for those leaders who are holding important positions in the society,” said state president Laxmikant Bajpai.

Earlier,in a brief interaction with mediapersons at Amausi airport,Shah said that NDA will form the government at the Centre in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and its foundation would be laid from UP. Bajpai said that execution of Shah’s directions would start immediately and the organisational structure would be established before November.

Bajpai said that Jail Bharo Andolan would be organised across the state on June 26 because emergency was declared in the country on the same date 38 years ago.
