Rajkot will soon have state-of-the-art aquariums and amusement parks at popular tourist spots of Aji and Nyari dams on the citys outskirts.
The state government has cleared these two new tourism projects to be executed on public private partnership (PPP) basis.
Sources in the state government said bids for the projects were cleared recently. Tendering process will start soon. Estimated cost for Aji dam aquarium and amusement park is Rs 40.56 crore. For Nyari dam,its Rs170.82 crore, sources said.
Both projects will focus on water sports and would include an underwater observatory,water rides and an amusement park,4-D theatre,gaming zone,retail shops etc.
Dynamic motion theatre,video game parlour,bowling alley with at least 6 lanes are some of the other features.
The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) have already reserved 5.13 hectares of land for the project at Aji dam. After selection of the PPP agency and handling over of land,the agency has to complete the first phase of project in 18 months, sources said.
