With the ongoing pipeline network-laying work at the Narmada canal, the water supply in Ahmedabad will be affected for two more days, till Saturday. The work, which started last Sunday, has resulted in low pressure and shortage of water in some areas, especially the New West and North zones.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to increase the capacity of the Kotarpur water treatment plant from 650 million litres per day (MLD) to 850 MLD. This will provide a boost to the New West and North zones.
“Areas near Jagruti School, Silver Park, Bilal Park, Sarkhej Roja, Siddikabad colony, Amber tower, Crescent School, Bagh-e-Nishan and Bagh-e-Firdosh are facing acute water shortage. The old water tank here has been discarded, but a new one is yet to be commissioned,” said Makhtampura councillor Hazi Asrarbaig Mirza.
