Accused challenge Danta court’s jurisdiction in HC

Some of the accused in the 2006 Tulsiram Prajapati encounter killings case on Friday moved the Gujarat High Court challenging the Danta magisterial court’s jurisdiction over the chargesheet filed by the CBI.

Some of the accused in the 2006 Tulsiram Prajapati encounter killings case on Friday moved the Gujarat High Court challenging the Danta magisterial court’s jurisdiction over the chargesheet filed by the CBI.

The Danta court had recently accepted the chargesheet while dismissing objections by the accused that it did not have jurisdiction.

Among the accused who have moved the HC are former Gujarat DGP P C Pande,additional DGP Geetha Johri,former investigating officer in the case,R K Patel,and Rajkumar Pandian,former SP with Gujarat ATS.

Pande’s lawyer Manisha Lavkumar confirmed the development,adding petitions are expected to come up for hearing next Monday before a single-judge bench.
