AAP’s Gujarat unit spokesperson Pitambar Parmar termed it as a conspiracy against the party. “There was no other purpose than celebration of the party’s victory in Delhi Assembly elections. There is no objection to other parties like BJP and Congress that too hold celebrations in the walled city areas,” said Parmar.

“The happiness and celebration was also for this new revelation that has emerged where against the long prevailing corruption a one-year-old party won against a 60-year-old established opponent. So it was like a wedding or a family function for which we do not think we require any permission. We had gathered to only dance in jubilation,” he added.

On the other hand,after the victory in Delhi,the party has an ambitious plan for Gujarat as well. While,speaking on the future plans for Gujarat,AAP national executive member Dinesh Vaghela said,“The party is all geared up for contesting from all 26 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat. We are confident that what happened in Delhi will be repeated in Gujarat as well.”

However,the next party meeting for laying out plans was scheduled after Sunday’s celebrations which has been postponed after the incident. “We were to gather and discuss the roadmap for coming Lok Sabha elections at the event today. The meeting was scheduled for Monday but due to this unpredictable event,it stands to be postponed at the moment,” said Parmar.

“We detained 17 people for about an hour and let them go. We told them that their gathering was illegal as they had not sought required police permission,” said an official of Vastrapur police station.
