A ‘Krishna’ who survived the crash

Doctors say that Krishna’s paternal aunt has been by her side ever since the tragedy occured.

“The family has held her together and broken the news about her parents’ death to her. She is mostly numb but slowly responding. So far,she seems emotionally stable,” said Dr Raviraj from BAPS hospital.

Krishna,who lived with her parents in the ill-fated building,is the couple’s only child. When the crash occurred,the family was asleep. However,Krishna’s rescue came at a time when extended family,including her uncle Ramesh,who had rushed to the spot from his village near Vadodara,had lost all hopes of finding Naresh and his family.

Krishna was rescued at around 11 am,shortly after her mother’s body was pulled out by fire officials. Hitesh Taparia,Chief of Fire department of the VMC,says,“We feel she had managed to run out of the house. She was found from the area near the staircase and had almost reached the exit. Actually the staircase area has heavy RCC slabs,so this rescue is indeed a miracle.”
