Krishna Padhiyar, the 12-year-old girl, who survived the building collapse at the Madhavnagar society on Wednesday morning, has been silent as she comes to terms with losing her parents father,Naresh Padhiyar and mother Sitaben both of whom were crushed under the debris of building number 10 of the VUDA colony in Atladara of Vadodara.
The girl, who is the youngest among the three survivors,is recuperating at the BAPS Shastri Maharaj Hospital in Atladara and has not spoken much since she was brought in by the rescue teams. Doctors treating Krishna say that the girl, who has suffered a minor head injury and was administered sutures, has responded well to the treatment.
Doctors say that Krishnas paternal aunt has been by her side ever since the tragedy occured.
The family has held her together and broken the news about her parents death to her. She is mostly numb but slowly responding. So far,she seems emotionally stable, said Dr Raviraj from BAPS hospital.
Krishna, who lived with her parents in the ill-fated building,is the couples only child. When the crash occurred, the family was asleep. However,Krishnas rescue came at a time when extended family, including her uncle Ramesh, who had rushed to the spot from his village near Vadodara, had lost all hopes of finding Naresh and his family.
Krishna was rescued at around 11 am,shortly after her mothers body was pulled out by fire officials. Hitesh Taparia,Chief of Fire department of the VMC,says,We feel she had managed to run out of the house. She was found from the area near the staircase and had almost reached the exit. Actually the staircase area has heavy RCC slabs,so this rescue is indeed a miracle.
