3 killed, two injured in blast at pharma factory in Vadodara
Police said the incident occurred when five workers were asked to inspect a malfunction in the boiler unit, used to treat discharge from the factory.

Three workers were killed and one critically injured in a blast at a pharmaceutical factory in Vadodara on Wednesday.
The blast took place in the boiler unit of Oneiro Lifecare Private Limited in Ekalbara village of Padra Taluka.
Police said the incident occurred at around 2 pm on Wednesday when five workers were asked to inspect a malfunction in the boiler unit that was used to treat discharge from the factory.
Primary police investigation revealed that three workers, identified as Narendra Solanki (20), Ramesh Padhiyar (31) and Thakor (36), were killed in the blast.
Two others were injured, of which one, identified as Mayur Padhiyar, is said to have sustained critical burn injuries.
The blast caused panic in the village when locals gathered at the factory even as the police and forensic experts along with local BJP MLA Chaitanyasinh Zala and the Mamlatdar of Padra arrived at the spot.
Vadodara Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand told The Indian Express that a ‘note case’ had been registered at Padra police station.
“Primary investigation has revealed that the five workers had been sent to inspect a boiler that was used to treat discharge from the plant… We have been told that there was a malfunction and it was suspected that some parts of the boiler had jammed. As the workers were inspecting the boiler, it exploded. We have confirmed three casualties while one worker is critical. Another worker who was injured is stable,” Anand said.
Oneiro Lifecare is yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
