The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Gujarat on Monday arrested two officials of the Customs Department and a middleman for allegedly seeking and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, an official said. The bribe was sought to clear a consignment of imported bags at Mundra port in the state's Kutch district. The accused have been identified as Shailesh Gangdev, a superintendent of the Customs Department, (Class-02) Mundra, Alok Dubey, a superintendent of the Customs Department (Preventive Division), Mundra; and middleman Ramesh Gadhvi, a Prajajan at Mundra Port in Kutch. The complainant is a businessman, as per an ACB release. He had imported handbags and the accused sought a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to 'not raise too many queries that would have delayed the consignment's release' from the port. The three were held under the Prevention of Corruption Act once the transaction was completed, as per the release. The ACB has recovered the bribe amount which was accepted by the officers.
