10,000 pleas await AMC NOC nod, deadline in just over a fortnight

The AMC may request the state government for extension of deadline.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is running against time to clear more than 10,000 pending applications for NOCs. It has referred them to the state government seeking clarification on their legal aspects. It is not clear whether the state government will give its go ahead on these but in the meanwhile, the last date for disposing them off, February 19, 2015, is approaching fast.

The AMC may request the state government for extension of deadline. The applications it has received are from agencies like Gujarat Housing Board, properties built on lands coming under the Urban Land Ceiling Act, those built on the government waste lands (kharaba) and the constructions that have come up on the green belt around the AMC limit. According to sources in AMC, GHB housing residents alone are involved in submission of around 7,000 housing units and the green belt encroachments come up to 10,000 housing units.

Meanwhile, the AMC has received 2,43,105 applications for regularisation under the Impact Fee legislation till January 26, 2015. Of these, 82,227 applicants are given the required certificates. This has brought in Rs 1,654.44 lakh as of January 26 this year. The impact fee collection till January as per civic zones is as follows: New west zone Rs 16.02 crore, West zone 14.18 crore. East zone 21.72 crore, South zone Rs 24.78 crore, North zone Rs 30.78 crore, Central zone Rs 9.03 crore. Put together the fee comes to Rs 116.54 crore from 82,227 cleared applications while 30,474 applications were rejected.

The largest number of applications approved was 24,772 in the East zone while the largest number of applications were from the south zone at 51,630 applications. Dy municipal commissioner (adm) I K Patel said. the largest number of application rejected were from 8,234 in south zone.

A senior official said the issue of the applications not having been disposed off was because of the reference made to the state government.
