Income Tax Audit Last Date: Last date to file Income Tax audit report extended till October 31

The CBDT’s decision follows representations from various professional associations, including Chartered Accountant bodies, highlighting certain difficulties being faced by taxpayers and practitioners in timely completion of audit report. The reasons cited in the representations included disruptions caused by floods and natural calamities in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.

The Revenue Department also mentioned that by September 24, 4,02,000 Tax Audit Reports (TARs) were uploaded with over 60,000 TARs submitted on Wednesday. Apart from that, more than 7.57 crore ITRs were filed till Tuesday.
