Fund mobilisation via equity, debt route up 18% to Rs 9.39 lakh crore in FY23

During the previous fiscal, corporates raised Rs 1.57 lakh crore of fresh capital via different equity instruments. Funds mobilised through the initial public offering route was Rs 54,773 crore.

Fund mobilisation by corporates through debt and equity routes rose by around 18 per cent to Rs 9.39 lakh crore in the fiscal ended March 31, 2023 as compared to Rs 7.92 lakh crore in FY2022, according to the Sebi data.

The amount of funds mobilised by corporates via equity and debt instruments was maximum in December 2022 at Rs 1.52 lakh crore.

During the previous fiscal, corporates raised Rs 1.57 lakh crore of fresh capital via different equity instruments. Funds mobilised through the initial public offering route was Rs 54,773 crore.

Corporates garnered Rs 4,300 crore via follow-on public offer (FPO) and Rs 8,213 crore from the qualified institutional placement (QIP) route, according to the Sebi data.

In FY23, corporates raised more capital from debt route as compared to equity instruments.
The total fund mobilisation through debt instruments stood at Rs 7.83 lakh crore between April 2022 and March 2023. In December 2022, corporates raised Rs 1.37 lakh crore – highest during FY2023 – from debt instruments.

In March 2023, total funds raised by corporates from debt and equity instruments stood at Rs 97,286 crore as compared to Rs 1.15 lakh crore in the previous month, the SEBI’s monthly bulletin for April 2023 showed.

Resource mobilised through equity issuances was Rs 4,842 crore during March 2023, compared to Rs 21,374 crore in the previous month.

There were 23 IPOs in March 2023, through which a total of Rs 995 crore was mobilized. Of the total IPOs, all 21 issues were SME/startup listings which mobilised Rs 428 crore.

Funds amounting to Rs 2,070 crore were raised through 14 rights issues in March 2023.

Corporates garnered Rs 1,277 crore through preferential allotment in March 2023, compared to Rs 20,804 crore raised in February 2023. There was one QIPs during March 2023 which raised Rs 500 crore.

The data showed that Rs 485 crore was mobilised through public issue of debt during March 2023, compared to the Rs 188 crore raised during the previous month.

Private placement of debt raised Rs 91,958 crore during March 2023, compared to Rs 93,859 crore during February 2023.
