State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said its profit after tax increased 6.29 per cent in the financial year ended March 31,2009,to Rs 3,039 crore over the corresponding period a year ago.
The company had a PAT of Rs 2,859 crore in the financial year 2007-08,BHEL said in a statement.
Turnover of the public-sector firm rose to Rs 27,505 crore in the latest fiscal from Rs 21,401 crore in 2007-08.
Shares of BHEL were trading up 3.60 per cent at Rs 1,525.10 in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
