Turmeric,jeera rise on fall in supply

Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital.

Turmeric and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by retailers and stockists amid low stocks.

Fall in supplies from producing belts also supported the upside in prices.

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,300-9,500 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 14,500-14,700 and Rs 17,300-17,800 per quintal,respectively.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

Ajwain 10,000-15,000,black pepper (per kg) 410-530,betelnut (kg) 160-195,cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 850-980,and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 900-1,000.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 750-850,cardamom (colour robin) 800-950,cardamom bold 900-980,cardamom extra (bold) 900-1,000 and cloves (kg) 600-700.
