Unprecedented boom via mobility coming,37 pct of India Inc sees it as IT priority: IDC

IDC expects enterprise mobility to undergo unprecedented boom to become necessity for businesses.

More than 37% of organizations across the major industry verticals in India consider mobility a top enterprise IT priority for the next fiscal year,according to a newly published research report by IDC titled “Enterprise Mobility 2013 Trends and Priorities in India.”

The survey was conducted with 430 key decision makers (CIO/CTO/IT head/IT Director and others),among organizations based in India and spanning across various verticals such as FSI,Manufacturing,Retail,Communication and Healthcare. The major objectives of the study were to identify the current usage and future plans of adoption of such solutions,drivers,and major challenges faced by enterprises.

Driven by the twin necessities of resource optimization and business agility,mobility is en route to being adopted in the mainstream. IDC expects enterprise mobility to undergo an unprecedented boom to become a necessity for businesses that aspire to lead and compete aggressively. There is a paradigm shift in the IT strategy of a major chunk of vendors (67%) that are willing to re-engineer their business processes to implement these solutions and derive business and competitive advantage.

“Young and tech-savvy people for whom mobility is native,are changing the workplace dynamics today. Resource optimization,and the need to increase employee productivity are the top reasons behind the interest evinced by Indian enterprises. Organizations are making the transition from “mobilizing the people” to “mobilizing the business processes,” said Jaideep Mehta,Vice President and Country General Manager,IDC India

To allay the security and integration concerns of the enterprises,heavy investments would be made in the mobile security and mobile device management spaces in the next 12-24 months.

“With management of employee owned devices becoming a primary concern for most organizations in their mobility journey,mobile device,content & application management tops the list of mobile solutions that organizations will be looking to outsource in the next 12 months,” opined Shalil Gupta,Director Insights and Consulting.
