Kawasaki is all set to expand it’s product portfolio and it’s presence in the ‘sub-10 lakh range in India by launching two new motorcycles, Z250 and ER-6N. Both the bikes are scheduled to launch on 16th October. While the Z250 will strengthen it’s position by accompanying the Ninja 300 in the quarter-liter segment, the ER-6N will be positioned along with it’s faired version, the Ninja 650, in the middle-weight sportsbike segment.

The Kawasaki Z250 is said to be the naked streetfighter version of the Ninja 250R, which is sold in some of the international markets, such as Indonesia. The bike is designed on the lines of Kawasaki’s top-of-the-range streetfighters. The bike looks like a scaled down Z800, and sports a menacing looking headlamp and chiseled body panels, giving it an aggressive stance. The Z250 is blessed with a four-stroke, twin cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid cooled 250cc motor, which produces around 34PS of power.

Some of the components, including the instrument console, are believed to be shared with the Ninja 300. Though the Z250 will be positioned on the upper spectrum of the quarter-liter segment, Kawasaki sees a huge potential in this motorcycle due to it’s twin-cylinder layout. At an expected price tag of Rs. 2.5-3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the bike will be competing with the Suzuki Inazuma, KTM Duke 390 and the upcoming Benelli BN302 here in India.

The ER-6N, on the other hand, will seem familiar to most Indians, as it is nothing but a streetfighter version of the popular Ninja 650, sans the front full fairing. The bike is powered by a four-stroke, parallel twin, fuel-injected, liquid cooled 649cc engine which does the duty on the Ninja 650 as well. The bike churns out a peak power of 72PS and a maximum torque of 63.7Nm. The bike is said to bear an expected price tag of Rs.5 – 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), and will be positioned below the Ninja 650.
