Kolkata-based start-up Tastes2plate (T2P), which delivers perishable food within 12-24 hours across cities, launched in Ahmedabad Friday. “We currently deliver to eight locations, and Ahmedabad is going to be our ninth location. We’ll expand to Surat as well,” said company CEO Gyan Srivastava during a media interaction.
“T2P decided to leverage its expertise of fast, fresh and affordable intercity perishable food delivery. In this process, anyone can send any food, either home-cooked or restaurant food, from the comfort of their home using the T2P application in a fast, reliable and affordable way,” Srivastava explained.
The company began operations from Kolkata in 2019 and expanded its business to different cities. Initially, the service was available only to restaurants.
Subsequently, the service was extended to include other customers as well. The minimum order value for a customer is around Rs 550. According to the company, it handles 1,250 deliveries per day.
“Normally, our services are for small get-togethers and office meetings. When you get food then you would want to share with people. Normally, you’d have a group and celebrate it,” said co-founder Pankaj Bajaj. “What is the barrier to bringing a delivery from a different city? The barrier is packaging so that it reaches fresh and on time. That is the problem that we’ve solved,” he added.
Srivastava added that T2P is looking to change the dynamics of perishable cooked food delivery from one city to another. “The market includes parents of children staying in different cities, chefs who have customers in other cities but can’t capture the foodies due to the unavailability of reliable shipping service providers, home-food makers who have customers in other cities, persons who are missing special food items from another city restaurants (not listed on T2P Platform), family and friends who want to send their delicious food to their beloved ones,” he said.
