Cleanest Indian Cities 2024-25: Indore has distinguished itself by winning the overall cleanest city award for seven consecutive years and is featured in this edition as well, along with Surat and Navi Mumbai, in the 'Million Plus Cities (> 10 Lakh population)' category.

Last year’s winner, Indore, has retained its top rank in the survey, while Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh and Mysuru have been ranked second and third respectively.

Mumbai had ranked 147 in a cleanliness survey in 2014 after which the BMC took certain measures including targeting open defecation spots and enabling door-to-door garbage collection.
