Her career spanned several South Indian languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam, showcasing her versatility. Beyond acting, she achieved recognition as a producer, winning the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 2002 for the Kannada film Dweepa. Her iconic roles cemented her status as a leading actress of the 1990s. Performances in films like Ammoru (1995), Pavitra Bandham (1996), Anthahpuram (1998), Raja (1999), Doni Saagali (1998), Dweepa (2002), and Apthamitra (2004) remain celebrated. Her accolades include three Nandi Awards—two for Pavitra Bandham and a Special Jury Prize for Ammoru and Anthahpuram—along with two Karnataka State Film Awards and six Filmfare Awards South.
