Kirti Vardhan Singh, also known as Raja Bhaiya, is a political leader from Uttar Pradesh and a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda Lok Sabha constituency. He was born on March 1, 1966, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and is the son of veteran political leader Maharaja Anand Singh.
His political journey at the national level began in 1998 when he won back-to-back Lok Sabha elections on SP’s ticket from the Gonda constituency. However, he decided to quit SP and switch his allegiance to BJP in 2014. He once again won back-to-back Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019 from the Gonda constituency on BJP’s ticket.
His political career has encompassed more than just legislation. He is renowned for his environmental advocacy and spirit of adventure. He piloted a powered hang glider at Pinjore airfield in Haryana for Pune skydiving ace Shital Mahajan in an extraordinary act of bravery and teamwork. This historic occasion was the first time a citizen piloted by an active Lok Sabha MP had jumped from a powered hang glider.
In July 2018, he succeeded in a Green Tribunal case against the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, which involved gang-related illicit sand mining in his area. Adding another layer of difficulty to his political career, he was charged in February 2024 for allegedly obtaining property illegaly.
