Dr Beesetti Venkata Satyavathi biography

Dr Beesetti Venkata Satyavathi, known affectionately as "Satyavathamma," is a leader of the Andhra Pradesh-based Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party and a unique figure in Indian politics. She made a career out of treating patients and standing up for her constituents as a Member of Parliament by combining her training as a doctor with her commitment to public service.

She was born on April 30, 1966, to Jagannadhga Rao and Demudlamma in the Anakapalle village of S. Rayavaram. She got married to Anakapalli's Kandregula Vishnumurthy, the founder of Vivekananda Hospital.

She completed her MBBS from Andhra Medical College, specialising in Gynecology. Known for her empathy and affordability, she earned the nickname "Satyavathamma" for charging only ₹30 for consultations, catering to the underprivileged. In 2000, she and her husband established the Vivekananda Hospital, offering low-cost medical care and setting up a charitable trust.

Satyavathi entered politics in 2009, connecting herself with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party, inspired by her desire to serve society on a broader level. Voters were influenced by her commitment to public service and accomplishments in healthcare, which helped her win the Lok Sabha seat from Anakapalli in 2019.
