Update - 2.55 pm - The covers are off for the second time! The groundsmen have placed the stumps and the sun is glaring full-fledgedly. THE PLAY WILL RESUME AT 3.10 pm GMT with no over loss, and let's hope there are no more surprises from the rain gods!

Update - 2.43 pm GMT - Oh my word! Scratch the last update folks! It is pouring again and the covers sheets are placed once again on the pitch. A few moments ago, the sun was bright and glowy, but now it's all dark. The big sheets are coming on as well.

Update - 2.35 pm GMT - There's some chit chat going in the middle of the field between the match officials and the head groundsmen. Although the main cover is still firmly placed. The sun has started glazing on the field and the groundsmen are folding the main cover as well! The supper soppers are soaking the logged water around the outer field. We just got the confirmation, the PLAY WILL RESUME AT 2:50 pm GMT.

Update - 2.25 pm GMT - Positive news! The rain has finally relented, and the groundsmen are swiftly removing the sheets, one by one. Stay tuned for more updates.

Update - 2:19 pm GMT - Oh no... the weather isn't looking great folks! The groundsmen have done good job covering the track cause it's started drizzling in The Village, Malahide. Let's hope it's just a passing shower and the game resumes on time.

As The Three Lions prepare to embark on their run chase, the question lingers in the air - Can they successfully chase down the target, or will the Men in Greens' bowling unit rise to the challenge? The stage is set for a riveting second innings, where every run and wicket will shape the narrative of this encounter.

After losing four wickets in just nine overs for a mere 58 runs, Harry Tector and Benjamin Calitz stepped up to stabilize the innings. But it was Rashid who made the crucial impact once again, returning to the attack with the intent to dismantle the partnership. By the 15th over, Ireland found themselves struggling at 102 for 7. However, thanks to Gareth Delany's lightning-fast knock, they managed to post a competitive total on the scoreboard. In the wicket department, Adil Rashid led the charge with three wickets, while Jamie Overton and Liam Dawson each claimed two, and Rehan Ahmed contributed with one.

Ireland's openers got off to a solid start, expertly targeting debutant Sonny Baker from England and maximizing their scoring opportunities. However, their promising 30-run partnership was broken when the opposition skipper, Jacob Bethell, brought Liam Dawson into the attack. This pivotal moment allowed The Three Lions to ramp up the pressure. With @adil, the spin duo swiftly dismantled the top-order batters, which created a lot of pressure on the batting team.

What an exceptional inning it was from Gareth Delany! Ireland have put up a commendable score of 154 runs, but it was not looking possible if Delany hadn't stepped up. England were pretty well throughout the inning, but they leaked a lot of runs in the death over.
