Toppling the governments and nullifying the verdict of the people, because of the lure of individual gains, has become normal practice. It is a matter of grave concern for those who want to save democracy and the Constitution.
To our brothers and sisters in Kashmir, we should appeal not to mistake the government for the people of this country. They should believe in our goodwill and fraternity for them, notwithstanding the damage done to it by the present misadventure of our government.
Governors, with rare exceptions, have been acting as if they are employees of the Central government, at its behest and in the interests of the party or parties in power at the Centre.
