Former "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen says he has the HIV virus. In an interview Tuesday (November 17) on NBC's "Today," the 50-year-old Sheen says he tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.

Sheen has always made headlines for all the wrong reasons. While we await the actor's 'big personal revelation', here's a look at some of his craziest controversies from the past.

Offered a waiter $1000: When American footballer LeSean McCoy left his server a 60 per cent tip at a Philadelphia restaurant, claiming that the service was poor and unsatisfactory, Charlie Sheen offered the waiter, whose name is Rob, $1000 via his Twitter account.

Gave Lindsay Lohan a $100,000 check: Another of controversy's favourite children, Lindsay Lohan received a whopping $100,000 from Charlie Sheen to pay off her mounting debt. Looks, like Charlie saw some of himself in Lohan, to have taken such a charitable step.

Posted his number on Twitter: When Charlie Sheen attempted to send his number to Justin Bieber via direct message on Twitter, the actor actually ended up tweeting his number to his five million followers.

Asked an alleged mass murderer to call him: Charlie Sheen never fails to shock fans but when he reached out to alleged killer and former LAPD cop, Christopher Dorner, people really started to wonder what exactly the actor was thinking. Charlie had posted a video urging Dorner to call him, saying, “Let’s figure out together how to end this thing.”

Public custody battle with ex-wife, Brooke Mueller: Charlie Sheen called his former wife, Brooke Mueller a bad parent and posted an unpleasant birthday message on Twitter for the world to see.

Sent 'Two and a half Men' creator, Chuck Lorre a letter claiming the show won't survive without him: Charlie Sheen was fired from 'Two and a Half Men' for his addiction to drugs and alcohol. He later sent a letter to show's creator, writing, "you created a show BASED ON MY AWESOME LIFE. I busted my a** for 8 years to support your vision. Your dream. In turn, it is my nightmare. You sad silly fool.”

Told Ashton Kutcher to 'quit barfing on my old brilliant show', on Twitter: Charlie Sheen had a tough time coming to terms with being replaced by Ashton Kutcher on 'Two and a Half Men'. He tweeted to his former co-star, Jon Cryer, "hey Jon!!! u r a GENIUS!!! I effin love and MISS YOU old pal! Q; who’s your lame side-kik? c #NiceTryCanonBoy #CH," attaching a picture of Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher. He then sent out another tweeted saying, “oh and Jon I’m so sorry I insulted your sidekick. I meant REALLY lame c.” Sheena later apologised to Ashton, "hey Ashton sorry bro all good. now quit barfing on my old brilliant show. Remember Punk'd? how duz it feel?"

Found naked drunk in a hotel: In 2010, Charlie Sheen was found naked and drunk in a hotel room after police were called by hotel security. He was then taken to a local hospital “for alcohol abuse and psychological evaluation.”
