Major controversies of 2014: Deepika Padukone’s cleavage row, Shweta Basu Prasad’s sex racket issue

A celebrity's life is often plagued with controversies and scandals. Here is a look at controversies that dominated the news from Bollywood in 2014.

Qissa Deepika Ke Cleavage Ka: The actor's stand inspired many others to take on institutions in the latter part of the year. Times of India republished a picture of Deepika Padukone from a prior event much to the chagrin of the actor. Deepika took to Twitter to express her discontent by posting a series of tweets. One of them said, "Yes I am a woman. I have breasts. I have a cleavage. You got a problem?"

Well, she surely has some spine. Former child actor Shweta Basu Prasad found herself in the wrong side of the law when she was accused of involvement in a prostitution racket. However, the charges were later dropped and Shweta slammed the media for blowing the issue out of proportion.

Not a 'pretty' story: Preity Zinta got into a rather public spat with her boyfriend Ness Wadia culminating in a FIR against the businessman. While Preity was criticised for overreacting, some friends from the industry stood firmly behind her.

Sex racket on Priyanka's property: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was caught in the middle of a controversy after one of her plot she had given on lease for a spa in Versova was raided by cops for the alleged involvement in flesh trade. Priyanka, who owns the property, had given it on lease to Charisma Beauty Spa outlet. The actress has also sent a legal notice.

No Photo for Salman Khan: Salman Khan faced the wrath of the photographers when his bouncers apparently brushed up a few freelance photographers during 'Kick' promotions. Nobody budged, Salman infact dared the photogs to stand by their ban in one of the tweets the next day and the ban continued for almost 5 months. But the matter recently got resolved at Salman's sister Arpita's wedding.

SRK in danger: Seven members of Ravi Pujara gang were arrested recently who revealed that they were planning to target superstar Shah Rukh Khan. It came to light later that a number of Bollywood celebs like Mahesh Bhatt were on their hit list too.

And they didn't live happily after: The divorce between Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Roshan wasn't really a scandal, but what followed was. Arjun Rampal was blamed to be the reason behind the couple's split as Sussanne was accused of adultery.

Moral Police at it again: Actress-model and 'Bigg Boss 7' winner Gauahar Khan was at the receiving end of yet another self appointed moral police. A man slapped her on the sets of a reality show that he said he wanted to teach Gauahar a lesson as she wore a 'short dress' that attracts and damages young men.

Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan was reprimanded for his nude poster of PK.

No Photos, please: Shraddha Kapoor also angered the photographers and shutterbugs by refusing to pose for them at one of the promotional events of her then to release 'Ek Villain'. All became well later, once the actress apologised. She was clicked again at 'Haider' promotions.
