
Aamir Khan's director wife Kiran Rao attended the MAMI film festival press meet earlier today, (October 7) in Mumbai along with 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' director, Dibakar Banerjee, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur and filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj who has been receiving much praise for his latest production, 'Talvar'. Kiran Rao, who is the Chairperson of the MAMI film festival, had earlier spoken about her hopes to create a market for independent film distribution. "We hope to create a market for independent film distribution at Jio MAMI, as this is one of the biggest hurdles independent films face in India," she had said. (Source: PTI)

Kiran Rao had said that MAMI gives filmmakers a chance to showcase their work and get feedback. "Film festivals have numerous advantages for directors and producers, as they get to watch the work of their contemporaries from around the country and world, as well as an opportunity to network and interact with other film professionals," said Rao. Dibakar Banerjee has been making headlines due to the trailer of his forthcoming production, 'Titli'. Dibakar, who is also lending his support to the festival, emphasised on the festival's emphasis on Indian films this year. "Mumbai needs a festival like MAMI because these are our cultural icons. This time MAMI will focus on India and Indian stories. We will be celebrating local Indian film industry and giving them a sense pride. We will screen films that have not yet been released in India. When you see these films, you will get to see the real India. You need not go anywhere else to see India," said Dibakar. (Source: PTI)

At the event, Nawazuddin confirmed his next untitled film with Amitabh Bachchan. "I have always had a dream of working with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
