Christian Bale's next project, Backseat, is a biopic on the life of Dick Cheney (former Vice President of the United States). The first few pictures from the set of the film are out and Bale looks completely unrecognisable. That is not a strange thing for him anymore as Bale has transformed his body completely for various roles in the past. Be it gaining weight or standing on just skin and bones, Bale goes the extra mile to add authenticity to his characters.

American Psycho (2000) - In one of his breakthrough performances, Bale played the murderous Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. His character is all about keeping up the appearances, but he hides his darkness beneath those layers. It was an essential part of the film that his workout routines were shown to be perfect and Bale maintained his body to fit the role.

The Machinist (2004) - In one of his most shocking physical transformations, Christian lost over 60 pounds for his role as the insomniac machinist in the 2004 film, The Machinist. He was all skin and bones for this film and we can completely believe that this transformation could not have been easy.

Batman Begins (2005) - Soon after his massive weight loss in The Machinist, Christian Bale took up the role of Batman for Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005) and had to gain his weight back. He gained over a 100 pounds to look like Batman and he of course, did it perfectly.

Rescue Dawn (2006) - After playing Batman, Bale had to again shed weight for playing Dieter Dengler in Rescue Dawn. He dropped 55 pounds for this film.

The Fighter (2010) - For this film, Christian didn't want to push the weight loss too far because then he wouldn't be able to train for his role in the film. He played Dick Eklund who is an addict but trains his brother to fight. He lost 30 pounds for the film.

American Hustle (2013) - In another shocking transformation, Christian was asked to eat to put on for this film. He put on 43 pounds for the film but his back really suffered through the process.

Exodus: Gods And Kings (2014) - After putting on an enormous amount of weight, Christian lost it all for his next film. He played Moses in the film and was back to looking like his fit self in a short span of time.
