A day after the police recovered the 11-year-old son of an I-T official, the needle of suspicion has moved to the tenants.
The police today detained the family of Sridhar Chaurasiya who had rented a portion of Sanjiv Bainswars house in the Krishnanagar area of Lucknow around 10 months ago.
The police became suspicious of Chaurasiya familys involvement in the entire episode after they came to know that her daughter,Ruby Chaurasiya, happens to be a close friend of Chandrabhan Singh the mastermind of the kidnapping bid, according to the police.
The girl is being interrogated,as we want to know if she was aware about the kidnapping plan and had helped Chandrabhan in the crime, said Lucknow DIG Rajiv Krishna.
Ruby,a BA Part-II student, was injected by sedatives along with her mother by the miscreants on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the police,Chandrabhan had visited Chaurasiya household two to three times in last few months. The Chaurasiya family, however, told the police that they were not aware of Chandrabhans criminal antecedents and knew him as Rubys classmate. Chaurasiya owns auto-rickshaws and his sons are employed with private firms.
Investigation so far has revealed names of three Unnao-based youths, including Chandrabhan, behind the crime.
The police have announced a reward of Rs 5,000 to anyone who would give information about Chandrabhan,a resident of Jaitipur village in Ajgain area of Unnao district from where Aditya Vikram was recovered in a semi-conscious state on Wednesday.
Ransom demand was Rs 1 crore
The kidnappers had demanded Rs 1 crore ransom from Sanjiv Bainswar who works as a steno in the I-T department, said police on Thursday. The kidnappers had made the demand through a letter which was left by them at Bainswars house.
