“Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a member of the Congress party. Sonia Gandhi is its president and Rahul Gandhi is the vice-president. But when our Prime Minister is on a tour to America and is scheduled to meet American president, the kind of snub that Rahul Gandhi has made is very shameful for the entire nation,” Singh said while addressing party workers here.

“Somebody may ask why are you saying this when PM is from the rival party? We want to tell them that the Prime Minister dosen’t belong to any party,he is the leader of the nation. When he is visiting a foreign country he is representing the entire nation,” he said.
Singh noted that opposition parties also refrain from making any harsh statement against a Prime Minister when he is on a foreign tour, beacuse at that moment he is representing the entire nation.
The BJP leader said that Rahul Gandhi should have refrained from making such statements and should have personally called the PM to register his views.
Terming Rahul’s remarks as a drama,Singh said the Congress leader has insulted the entire government including the allies of the UPA regime.
“Was it not a drama to snub the PM in front of everybody? He could have called up PM to register his views.
If Soniaji and Rahulji had said something,it was obvious that the PM would have listened,” Singh said.
Slamming the UPA government for creating a “new record in corruption” across the country,he said in the process the it has destroyed the economy of the country.
Earlier in the day,Singh had said that Rahul Gandhi’s comment that the ordinance on convicted lawmakers should be torn up as it was ‘nonsensical’ could create anarchy.
“Tearing it (ordinance) is not correct. Is Rahul trying to create an anarchy? He could have said instead that it should be again reconsidered by the Cabinet,” Singh said.
Singh advised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to speak up on issues rather than remaining silent when the situation demands.
“My advice to Prime Minister is to speak when situation demands,” he said.
Criticising the foreign policy of the nation,Singh alleged that neighbouring nations like China and small nations are also daring to take on India.
In a bid to reach out to the communities,Singh said all the communities should come forward to make India a powerful nation.
“We need to lead the nation with all the communities participating in the developmental process. We should see that no community is left behind,” Singh said.
