With ceasefire violations continuing along the LoC and International Border (IB),Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Wednesday said that India will give befitting reply to Pakistan.
The Home Minister further said that additional BSF troops are being rushed to Pakistan border.
Shinde’s statement comes a day after what may be called the biggest ever ceasefire violation in recent times in which a BSF jawans was killed and three others got injured as Pakistani mortars continued raining on R S Pura,Arnia,Ramgarh and Akhnoor sectors along the International border on Tuesday night.
ThePakistani Rangers,had on Tuesday opened fire and heavily shelled over 50 border outposts along the International Border overnight,in the biggest-ever provocative act from across the border during the last few years. BSF jawan,M L Meena of Rajasthan was killed in the firing.
The heavy shelling and fresh ceasefire violation come close on the heels of Shinde’s visit to areas long the IB on Tuesday to review the security situation arising out of ceasefire violations since October 14,in which two jawans have been killed and 18 people injured.
Shinde had said ‘stern action’ would be intiatied in the matter as he asserted that the issue of ceasefire violations would be taken up with Pakistan at a meeting of the Directors General of Military Operations of the two countries.
The Home Minister had also blamed the Lashkar-e-Toiba for the spurt in infiltration attempts from across the border as he said that LeT founder Hafiz Saeed was learnt to have visited forward areas in Pakistan.
