Ten students of the New Law College,Bharati Vidyapeeth, back after their recent interaction with Rahul Gandhi they discussed several topics and argued with the Congress leader on some are all praise for his humility.
One of them was so impressed by Gandhi at the interactive session in Delhi that he is thinking of joining politics,as the young Congress General Secretary had suggested to participants of the session; part of Gandhis programme to reach out to the youth across the country.
At the session, discussion ranged from the education system and brain drain to issues the country is facing. A need was felt to revamp the education system to meet standards set by the west. The students said they were bowled over by the humility Gandhi showed during the interaction.
Final year law student Geetanjali Sethi said the interaction turned out to be a great learning experience.
He expressed his concern over brain drain from our country and the need for stopping it. We discussed different reasons behind youth preferring jobs abroad and about ways in which this migration could be stopped, said Sethi.
Final year LLB student Akshit Kapoor is seriously thinking of joining politics. Even if he is not really very young,we could feel an instant connection with him. Its very encouraging to see that a politician is making an effort to understand the psyche of todays youth. It was a very enlightening experience where he told us his experiences as a student and we shared ours. The session was very inspiring and I am giving joining politics a thought.
At the session, there were some students who did not fully agree with what Gandhi had to say about a few points raised at the meet. And the argument that followed.
Pallavi, who led the team, said,We had a very healthy discussion even if we did not agree on a few points. He said rural areas were being transformed into urban centres. When I pointed to Bihar still being backward,he said Bihar was an exception. I did not agree and put forth my viewpoint, said Pallavi, who is from Bihar.
They all agreed Gandhi displayed confidence and came across as a simple human being. Mukund Sarda, principal,New Law College, said,It was an honour for all of us to have a one-on-one with Rahul Gandhi where the main topic was how to lead our country through education. It was a very enlightening experience and students had a great time.
