The five adults accused in the December 16 gangrape case were chargesheeted for robbing and causing hurt to a man on Friday, before they assaulted the 23-year-old paramedical student in a bus.
Police filed the chargesheet against the five accused before Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain, who took cognisance of the report and posted the matter for further hearing on March 28. The chargesheet details how 35-year-old carpenter Ram Adhar was robbed and thrown out of a moving bus by the accused on December 16.
According to the police, driver Ram Singh, his brother Mukesh,Vinay Sharma,Pawan Gupta and Akshay Singh, along with a juvenile, had snatched Ram Adhars mobile phone and Rs 1,500 after luring him into the bus.
The juvenile, who was acting as a conductor in the bus,has been named in the robbery case but a separate chargesheet has been filed against him before the Juvenile Justice Board.
The chargesheet says Ram Adhar was returning home to Sangam Vihar around 8.45 pm on December 16,when he was picked up by the accused from Munirka bus stand and thrown out of the vehicle at IIT flyover. It says the juvenile lured Adhar by saying that the bus was going towards Nehru Place, after which the others assaulted him and took Rs 1,500. Adhar has identified Mukesh as the person who was driving the bus when he was picked up.
The juvenile snatched Adhars mobile phone and threw him out of the bus, police said. The accused then had a party at Ram Singhs home and allegedly decided to rob more people. Police say they had tried to pick up other passengers but Adhar was the only one to board their bus.
The chargesheet says the robbed articles were later recovered from the accused.
