Dec 16 gangrape accused file appeals

Two of the accused convicted in the December 16 gangrape case have filed appeals against their conviction and sentencing before the High Court.

Two of the accused convicted in the December 16 gangrape case have filed appeals against their conviction and sentencing before the High Court. Filing a joint appeal through Advocate AP Singh,Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur have said that the trial court’s judgment was “bad in law”. Vinay has also claimed that he was 17 years old on the date of the incident and should have been tried as a juvenile. The trial court had last month awarded the death penalty to the duo along with Mukesh and Pawan Gupta for raping the 23-year-old victim on a moving bus in South Delhi.

Cop’s wife shot dead

The 40-year-old wife of a Delhi Police head constable was shot dead reportedly by two bikers Monday morning in Southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area. Prima facie,it appears to be a case of personal enmity with police suspecting a property dispute to be the reason behind the murder. Anita Singh was a ward assistant at the Army’s RR Hospital in Delhi Cantonment.
